According to Reuters, Google will allow businesses to install an auto-updating version of the Chrome operating system on Windows computers. According to data from the research firm Statcounter, ChromeOS held a 1.8% share of the worldwide desktop OS market in January 2024, while Windows occupied about 73%. The gap is big. ChromeOS has struggled with wider adaptability because of its incompatibility with legacy Windows applications and productivity suites used by businesses.
