    What is FAT32?
FAT 32 is one partition format of Windows system which adopts 32 bit file allocation table, greatly enhancing disk management capacity and breaking through the 2 GB limitation of FAT 16. As the production cost of hard disk falls, the volume of hard disk grows larger and larger. We can define one large hard disk as one partition instead of several partitions by using FAT 32 partition, facilitate disk management. Nevertheless, FAT 32 is gradually replaced by NTFS.

    Features of FAT 32:
Support driver with a maximum volume of 2 TB.
NOTE: Microsoft Windows 2000 merely supports FAT 32 with a maximum volume of 32 GB.
Utilize space more efficiently. FAT 32 adopts smaller cluster compared with FAT 16 to improve the disk space utilization by 10% to 15%.
More stable and reliable. FAT 32 is able to relocate root folders and uses the backup copy of file allocation table rather then default copy. Moreover, the boot record of FAT 32 is also expanded including backup copy of core data structure. Therefore, FAT 32 is less easy to be affected by single point failure in comparison with FAT 16.

More flexible. The root folder of FAT 32 driver is ordinary cluster chain which can be placed in anywhere of driver. Previously, there isn't any limitation upon quantities of root folder. Furthermore, it can still ban the use of file allocation table to make to file allocation table instead of the first file allocation table at active state.
