What Is Escape from Tarkov

Escape from Tarkov is an independent multiplayer online (MMO) first-person shooter (FPS) game developed by Russian studio Battlestate Games and running on the Windows platform. The closed Alpha test of the game started on August 4, 2016. The Beta test started from July 2017 and is still in progress so far.

The game’s story happened in capital of Norvinsk Special Economic Zone—Tarkov city. In 2015, the political scandals and corruption of the Tarkov city government were uncovered one after another, and then the social order in Tarkov city collapsed.

The Russian Federation and the technology giant “Terra Group” hired two private military companies (PMC)—Battle Encounter Assault Regiment (BEAR) and United Security (USEC), respectively—to fight in Norvinsk for benefits.

At the same time, the militant residents that stranded in the local area, the defected PMC members, and the former government and military members formed the third camp—Scavenger (Scav in the game). This camp was hostile to both BEAR and USEC.

In this game, players can choose to play a PMC member (BEAR or USEC) or a scavenger to join the battle. Players are placed in random locations on the map, and some fixed locations on the other end of the map are randomly selected as “escape points” for players to withdraw from the game.

The goal of players is to search for supplies from the map, kill the enemy and escape from the map. If players withdraw successfully, the supplies they collect in the game will be theirs. But if the player dies during the battle, all the items he brought into the battle will be lost except for the items put in the safety box.

However, different camps you choose have different effects on the game role. USEC members have unique skills in the use of NATO/Western weapons, light armor and trading, while BEAR members focus on AK series rifles, heavy armor and assault skills.

As for Scav, it is a game mode. All players can play as a Scav member. Playing a Scav member is equivalent to playing NPC in the game. In PMC mode, players bring their own weapons and equipment into the map. If they die, all the equipment they brought into the game will be lost, unless they have insurance for their equipment before entering the game.

However, in Scav mode, players are randomly issued weapons and equipment by the system. The death of a character will not have any impact on the game progress. But if players withdraw successfully from the map, they can transfer the equipment they have found to the main character (PMC character). However, the game sets a 20-minute cooldown for playing Scav.
