Among Us, first released in 2018, is an online multiplayer social deduction game. Now, it is cross-platform available on Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
In the game, players look like colorful armless cartoon astronauts in space-themed settings.
Each of them takes on one or two roles and there are two sides. Most of them are Crewmates and there are a small number of Impostors among them. Crewmates win if they identify and vote out the Impostors, or complete all the tasks around the map. If Impostors kill the Crewmates or trigger a disaster, the Impostors win.

Actually, Among Us is quite popular among deduction game lovers. However, some players complained that they can’t type in Among US. It could be annoyed as they can’t communicate with their friends in the game.
Why Can’t I Type in Among US?
Why can’t I type in Among US? Are you bothered by the same question? Don’t worry. Generally, there are three main reasons:
- You are playing the game with a guest account. If so, some of the game features will be removed and you can’t type in Among us.
- You are using an improper chat type. Chats may interfere with your game when things get heated, which may make you disable the Free Chat. However, you can only type in Among Us when you enable the Free Chat feature. So, you need to re-enable it by going to Find Game and selecting Free Chat for the Chat Type
- You are under 18. When you play the game for the first time, you have to fill in your birthdate. If you typed a random date, you may be involved in the problem, because Among US only allows players over 18 to type in Free Chat. In this case, you can try to change your age to solve the problem.
How to change your age to solve the Among Us chat not working issue?
On PC, you can:
Step 1: Press the Windows key along with the E key to open File Explorer.
Step 2: Go to C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Innersloth\Among US. You need to replace Username with your actual user name.
Step 3: In the folder, search for playerPrefs. Then open the file with Notepad.
Step 4: Find the numbers referring to the birthdate you entered when you play Among Us for the first time. For example, if you select June 14, 2006, you need to look for 6, 14, 2006.
Step 5: Change the birthdate to an earlier date. Then save and close the file.
After that, you can try to play Among Us again and the Among Us chat not working issue should disappear.
On Android, you need to:
Step 1: Navigate to your system Settings menu.
Step 2: Go to Apps & notifications.
Step 3: Select Among US and tap the Storage option. Then select Clear Data.
Step 4: Run Among Us, and fill in a new birthdate over 18 years old.
