Resize Partition with partition magic

  • When managing partition, we often need to resize partition. For example, when installing software to one partition but the partition is too small, we need to resize partition to fix this problem. Recently, many partition magic has this function especially MiniTool Partition Wizard. It is professional partition magic that resizes partition easily. However, before resizing partition, we should analysis condition of all partitions to see if the partition mode is reasonable.

    Analysis disk and partition condition before resizing

    Reasonable partition mode is convenient for us users. We can judge it by the following points:
    1. Too many partitions make accessing files difficult and management is also troublesome.
    2. Too few partitions make classifying files too hard.
    3. One too large single partition reduces use rate of disk space.
    4. Too small partition, especially system partition, affects system efficiency and speed.
    These are common situations of unreasonable partition mode. With MiniTool Partition Wizard, we can fix these problems easily by using "Move/Resize" function of MiniTool Partition Wizard.

    Use MiniTool Partition Wizard to resize partition
    The following picture shows condition of all partitions in the computer. The partition mode is very unreasonable so let's try to use MiniTool Partition Wizard to adjust disk space. Visit official website of MiniTool Partition Wizard: http://www.partitionwizard.com/ and download it. Install it to the partition that is not going to be operated and then launch it to enter into main interface:



    In this interface we find that Partition F: is too large. We should divide it into two partitions. Select Partition F: and click the "Move/Resize" function button to resize partition as the following picture:



    At the top, there is an option of "Using Enhanced Data Protecting Mode". It is better to check it. Drag partition handle border in "Size and Location" area to resize or drag the whole partition handle to move partition position. Or we can input values directly in the textboxes below. After settings, click "OK" button to go back to main interface.



    At this time, there is unallocated space in "Disk 1" area. Just select it and click "Create" button at toolbar to create a new partition with this unallocated space.
