Create Partition

• Partition management without a professional partitioning software can be difficult:
  First, boot your computer from floppy disk or CD.
  Then input the command fdisk, enter and you will see the following tips.
  Your disk is more than 512M, FAT 32 file system is highly recommended.
  Input Y and enter.
  Now you are at the main face of Fdisk, try to get the clear view of the options and do not mix them.
  
  Options are listed below:
  1. Create DOS partition or logical drive
  2. Set active partition
  3. Delete partition or logical drive
  4. Partition properties.
  Select 1 and press enter, you will see a menu like this.
  1. Establish primary partition
  2. Create extended partition
  3. Create logical partition
  
  Generally speaking, create partition usually follow the step of create primary partition, then extended partition, and last logical partition. Delete partition has the opposite order. Theoretically speaking, a disk can have multiple primary partitions. Practically, having only one primary partition is enough. The rest of the space of the disk is the extended partition. The logical partition is divided from the extended partitions.
  
  1. Create primary partition
  Select 1 and press enter, Fdisk will check hard disk.
  Would you like to activate the whole disk as primary partition? The primary partition is usually DISK C. Now we have more than one partition on the hard disk. Thus, input N and enter the total space of hard disk would be displayed and the checking process continues.
  Set the size of primary partition, input the number with the unit of MB or percent. Press enter to confirm.
  The primary partition C is created, press ESC and continue.
  
  2. Create extended partitions.
  Back to the menu of Fdisk and select 1 for continuing.
  Select 2 to create extended partitions
  Hard disk checking please wait…
  We usually press enter as our disk usually needs one primary partition. Set the size of partitions by inputting numbers according to your needs. Extended partition is created and press ESC to continue.

  Select the disk where you want to create partitions, right click and choose CREATE.
  
  
  
  We will see a window for create new partitions.
  
  
  
  Set the label of the created partition as New system, primary partition, drive letter K, file system NTFS. The cluster of partition can be set freely, if no further requirements, just set as default. Then we will see the information for setting the size of the partition, for instance 41.36 GB. Lastly, click OK and apply changes, and a partition is created.
  
  
  
  Similarly, we can create partitions for different Operating Systems such as Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Vista, and Windows 7.
