The size of the partition is restricted by the file system used. The older FAT 32 file system can support up to 2 TB with a minimum volume size of 512 MB, however, Windows XP can only format a FAT 32 volume of up to 32 GB. The newer NTFS file system can support volumes much larger than 2 TB and has a minimum volume size of 10 MB.
FAT: capacity from 512MB to 2 TB. Under Windows XP system, you can only format volume up to 32 GB with FAT32 file system. Span is not support and the largest file supported is 4 GB.
If you want to create FAT 32 partition larger than 32 G or manage file systems larger than 2 TB and much more, you need a professional partition software.
